Ardbeg has been called “as close to perfection as makes no difference,” by whisky connoisseurs. In the past ten years, six different Ardbeg expressions have won prestigious titles including World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single .
Ardbeg was founded back in 1815 on Islay’s southern coast, but only emerged as a cult producer in the 1990s and 2000s after it was reopened by Glenmorangie in 1996 after years of dormancy. Their most sought-after whiskies tend to come from their very rare older stock dating back to the 1970s.
The distillery has performed well over the past year thanks to its strong brand, award-winning whiskies, and global reputation. Over the past 12 months the Rare Whisky Ardbeg index has surged by 32.17%, a clear indicator that the rare whisky market has thrived even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
